Three years on!

Yes it is true - it is now three years since I left my mum and moved in with Joan and such a lot has happened since that day! Max joined me after six weeks and Oscar came along a year later and we have enjoyed lots of lovely happy days playing in the house and garden and going out and about with Joan in the car.

I love the garden but not quite so much as the boys do - they are out in the garden at every opportunity whereas I often go back indoors to find a comfy spot in the sun instead.

If you read our page last month you would know we had lots of snow to contend with and just two weeks ago we had a heavy snowfall. In sharp contrast this week has been glorious and all the Spring flowers have come into bloom so we have been back out in the garden investigating them as I was in the picture alongside.

We love the Spring and Summer because we can take advantage of the garden and seek out favourite places to snooze and watch the world go by. All the shrubs are waking up after their winter sleep now and a few buds are appearing on their branches. The birds are flitting around building nests and we are watching them carefully to see where they go.

Joan had quite a surprise last week when she heard that Oscar was 'Front Page News' in the latest edition of 'Our Cats' magazine. He is one of six nominees for the 'PAT cat of the Year 2005' and his picture was right in the middle of the page as you can see in this photo.

Oscar loves to go PATting and sets off each Sunday to see the old folk and brighten their day. Many of them miss their pets now that they are in residential care and Joan says it is nice for them to give Oscar a fuss and a cuddle as it brings back happy memories for them.

Needless to say Oscar was quite pleased with himself and spent a bit of time looking smug but he soon got back to normal. I think he enjoys the idea of being famous because the other day he was on the television.

I think someone has told him that if you are famous you get to be on television but I rather think that Oscar has got the wrong idea. They mean on the screen Oscar not on top of the set!!

Maybe one day Oscar, maybe, but not just yet!!

Oscar investigates the Spring flowers

I don't want Max to feel left out of course but this month he wasn't too keen on posing for photographs. He went to his favourite spot by the hedge and refused to come out to pose!

Mind you as he was sitting behind a clump of daffodils Joan got a 'Springtime' photo of him anyway.

He had been busy all morning helping Joan in the garden as she was sorting out some shrubs and taking up some rooted cuttings for transplantation so maybe Max thought he had done quite enough for one day.

Joan says Max is her 'shadow' because wherever she goes he is never very far behind and the minute she sits down for a rest he is up on her knee for a cuddle.

All in all I am really glad I came to live here. Between us we have just about got Joan trained to attend to our every whim. She knows what our favourites foods are and generally we enjoy our meals (especially Oscar!)

Max behind the daffodils

Sometimes I do have to remind Joan about our favourite games especially the 'cat dancer' which I still adore. The other morning when she was tidiying up she emptied the waste bin and brought it back into the lounge. I decided to see if I could fit inside it and that made her smile - needless to say she dashed off for the camera so she could share the moment with you!

She smiled as she lifted me out, she gave me a cuddle and said 'Lara whatever you are you certainly aren't rubbish so you shouldn't be in a rubbish bin!' I knew that of course - I just wanted to check that she hadn't got fed up of me after three years.

Lara

No chance Lara, I would never get tired of you - you bring joy every day!

Joan
