Tree collars

Well I guess that it sounds like a funny title for a page but Joan has been getting fa few questions recently about how we get to play out in the garden without her worrying about is climbing trees.

The answer of course is that she has fitted 'collars' on to the trees we climb so that we can get so far but no higher. That is great becasue it does mean we get some exercise and can 'strop' our claws a bit but Joan doesn't have to worry about how to get us down if we go to far up the tree.

She makes them out of a three foot square of wire mesh which she cuts halfway through and then makes a cross cut in the middle of the mesh so that she can turn a corner down and fix it to the tree. Then she joins the wire back together around the tree and we can't climb beyond it.

She says you have to be careful to put the collar above head height or else you could walk into the edges as you pass by but other than that it is a fairly simple solution to the problem.

As you would understand we don't actually see it as a problem but Joan says as she gets older it isn't really ideal to climb trees!

Today is a hot August Bank holiday so we have been out in the garden for most of the day. I am not that keen on the heat so I generally find a shady place to rest and watch the world go by. Oscar on the other hand decided to do an impersonation of Joan sunbathing on a rug in the garden!

Max decided to relax indoors looking very regal on the purple velvet until Oscar decided to have a game with some feathers on a twizzle stick and he went to join in.
