Nearly Christmas!

We can hardly believe it is nearly Christmas again! The weather has suddenly got very cold - we even had a little flurry of snow this morning - so we guess that Christmas is just around the corner which means Joan might get some time off to sit and cuddle up to us and we might get some nice presents to open and play with on Christmas morning!

There was a plan for us to have visitors next weekend but sadly the lady from America who was coming to visit us (and Joan) has had to cancel. We have never met an American before but we understand this one has two lovely Birmans so we guess she must be OK?

We had all sorts of plans to make her feel at home - like early morning alarm calls and Oscar's special 'snuggle under the duvet' trick not to mention the chase games using her bed as a springboard. We figure if she has two Birmans of her own she should be used to that sort of thing and would miss it?

Joan has been checking things out today ready for Christmas so our favourite Santa came out of the box just to check he was in form and happy to wave to everyone passing by. We all took turns to sit next to him and pose for a quick festive photo to get everyone in the mood for the festivities to come.

Oscar - cheeky as ever!

Lara sits to attention!

As you would imagine we do like to keep Joan on her toes when she wants us to pose for a few photos so, as usual, we put Oscar in charge of mischief. He dived underneath the red velvet she was using and shot out underneath with one of the teases!

Later when Joan was trying to get Max's attention with a white fluffy ball it all became too much to him again and he just had to join in!

So far as Oscar is concerned life is just one long game and because he has specialised in the 'cute' expression he can get away with it most of the time.

Oscar got an even bigger surprise the other day when we got a rosette through the post - it was from the people at Pets as Therapy and was for him being a finalist in the PAT Cat of the Year 2006 Competition. Now you may remember that he got the most votes by a mile from those cast on line but for some reason the people at Pets as Therapy and Our Cats decided not to make him the winner! Joan tried very hard to get them to explain why but they were very evasive about the whole thing and she hasn't really got to the bottom of it even now.

Max and Oscar

Oscar of course doesn't really care about whether or not he won but quite a number of the old folk he visited were quite upset about it. Joan wasn't too pleased either but she says what is most important is that the old folks still get their visits.

Oscar is now registered as a 'Comforting Cat' with a very nice group which also includes 'Cuddle Bunnies' and 'Canine Concern' so he visits representing them now. If you want to know more about them they do have a web site at www.comfortingcats.co.uk/

Oscar now visits two places as a Comforting Cat because one of his old ladies had to move out of the care home into a nursing home.

Lara

We are now busy getting ready for Lara's fourth birthday which is just before Christmas - you can see what Lara means about time flying by - I can't believe she is nearly four - she still runs around like a kitten!
