Oscar's First Year

Doesn't time fly? It hardly seems like yesterday that Joan brought little Oscar to join us here but it is over a year since he first came.

He is now a very big cat with a very big 'purrsonality' to match! We are really quite fond of him and spend ages playing with him - he has such a lot of energy that it takes both of us to keep him amused although we do manage to tire him out sometimes and then we can have quiet games with each other!

Whenever we have visitors he just pushes his way to the front and gives them no peace at all until they have made a fuss of him and told him how gorgeous he is. Doesn't he know that cats are really far too dignified for such behaviour?

and then they end up having a cuddle!

Generally it is true to say that we all get on pretty well together. As you can see from the photo above sometimes Oscar and Max pretend to have a bit of a battle but it is all good natured and it usually ends up with the two of them having a cuddle together.

This weekend is a Bank Holiday again so that means we have a long weekend at home with Joan and can get some serious play out in the garden. The weather has been kind this weekend so we have been outside for most of the day and come in quite exhausted ready for a long sleep.

Because the weather is good we are getting some serious hunting games in. It isn't always easy to find animals to catch around here so we tend to settle for stalking and pouncing on each other.

If I can I prefer to get a 'grandstand' seat somewhere in the garden to watch rather than to wrestle. This morning I chose a seat up the tree which was great and Joan didn't even notice until I was on the way down!

Max waits for the 'magic carpet' to take off

If the weather is really good Joan sometimes takes a big rug out into the garden to sit on and read the papers.

We love it when she does and we take it in turns to sit on it and pretend it is a magic carpet which will take us off on an adventure!
